My fingers hurt! These wiring split bolts were taped very very well. Wiring split bolts are used to connect larger wiring connectors that wouldn't be safe with another connection such as a wiring nut, but they do require a multi step process of taping. First vinyl tape, then thick rubber isolation tape, then vinyl tape again and finally friction tape. #elevators #electronics #bloomingtonnormal #peoria #springfield

This relay is off of a 1960's relay logic Otis. The coil before I cut it in half read infinity resistance meaning there must have been a break in the windings somewhere. Anyway I decided to cut it in half to see what it looks like.#elevators #electronics #oldschool
Machine room less (MRL) traction elevator with 4:1 roping. The most common roping method in the least century have been 1:1, meaning that each rotation on the drive sheave equals that amount of movement in the load. This requires more powerful motors and more energy to move the load, but less rope. On a 4:1, it takes the drive sheave 4 rotations to move the load the same distance as the 1:1. This means smaller, faster, and more energy efficient motors can be used. Therefore, in a 4:1 roping a small motor can move the same load as a large 1:1 motor, but each have there benefits and drawbacks.
